I am moving to college on August 16th! I live in Michigan, but will be moving to New York City for college, so I am obviously really really excited!
I just purchased a binder, journaling cards, and page protectors from Becky Higgin's "Project Life" kit, and some paper and stickers from Michael's, and I plan on using that to document my entire first of college/first year in New York City experience! However, I am very very impatient, and can't wait until August 16th to start my album! I already made a title page and wrote a page about how I feel about moving to college and being on my own. I also plan on taking pictures of my family & I packing all my stuff and the drive there to include as well. But I was wondering if you guys had any other ideas of what I can include as a "before" part of my album.
Just looking for some fun little things I can do or take pictures of (etc) to keep me busy and scrapbooking before I leave!

One of the things I spent a whole summer working on...was the outfit I was going to wear on my first day. Do you have one yet? If not, you can document your fashion adventure.

I actually haven't picked out my outfit yet, but that's a GREAT idea! & I am actually going to school for fashion merchandising, so that would also be a great idea to scrapbook my "fashion adventure" and put in pictures of some of my favorite outfits each month of something...Thanks!

another suggestion is to make yourself a little comfort box of some of your favorite things. Like a shoe box that you cover in scrapbook paper, ribbon, stickers. Then you fill it with your favorite candy bars, a new nail polish, a favorite small stuffed animal, a fun hair clip, pictures from home, cd of your favorite band, and so on. Then when College gets you down...too much studying BOOO...you can reach for your comfort box. Be sure to load it up with LOT of snacks.
Then as you take the snacks out you put things in from your college experiences. And the box becomes a keepsake.

You can scrap acceptance letters and other paper things you've received which are significant.
If you get a back to school hair style - before and after - High School "ME" and College "ME".
If you have your schedule in advance you can scrap a copy of it.
I love journaling - I'm a journaling fanatic so for my book I would look up my school on the interent and scrap a brief hisory, maybe put the alma mater on velum and make a nice page with that and get a picture of the school mascot off the internet.
I would also prnt a nice color map of that part of the state that shows exactly where the school is located. I always use maps to show where things are located and arrows to show exactly where.
I would also see if I could buy some decals or bumper stickers and things like that because I love to scrap those things.

Aww, the comfort box is such a great/cute idea! I'm sure I will appreciate it a lot once I am away from my family for a couple weeks! Thank you!

SUCH great ideas! I don't know how I completely forgot about adding my acceptance letter! And I actually went for scheduling 2 weeks ago and have a rough draft of my schedule I can include, and a map as well!
The history of the school would be so fun to do!!
Thanks so much! -

Congrats!! What school will you be attending? My brother in law just finished at NYU Law and he loves living in NYC.
I really like the idea of scrapping your schedule and a map of the school. Are you close to any NYC landmarks? Maybe you can do a page about where you'll be living and some of the things you would like to go do and experience. -

I will be attending LIM College! It's a fashion merchandising college! It's actually on Fifth Avenue, so that would be a great thing to scrap sbout! Thank you!

How awesome is that?!?! You are going to have such a great time going there! Fifth Avenue during the holiday season is MAGICAL!! Make sure you go see all the displays - it's really incredible! I live about 2 hours outside the city in CT, so I get to travel in a lot. Maybe we can scrap shop together one day (as long as you are all caught up on your schoolwork that is lol)!

That's what I am most excited about, Christmas time!! I have only been to NYC 3 times, and it has always been during to Summer, so I am SO excited to see everything during the Winter/holiday time!
Oh, and I just looked at your profile and saw that you are a dancer!? I am too!! So yes, maybe one day we'll be scrapping together! hehe:) -

It may be helpful to leave room in your book to celebrate your intellectual growth--how you thought when you started compared with how you are when you graduate. Or, since you have so much to do with this book, I would suggest making a book AFTER you graduate. The perspective would be nice.

I'm doing one for my son. We took pics of the packed car and him moving in. He also had someone take a picture of him next to a sign with the school name.
